"There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark
You should know you're beautiful just the way you are
And you don't have to change a thing
The world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful"…
Okay Okay, I know you know the song… I mean, everyone literally has a cover of it?
But it goes deeper than that
Now, I'm not here to write a review of the song, or what happened before the inception of the lyrics, although, a big thumbs up goes out to Alessia Cara !
You have probably read thousands of encouraging posts and messages telling you that you are the best, and you shouldn't let social media determine who you are.
When you hear those words of encouragement, you find your happy place…. at least for a while, before your 'supposed reality' comes back crashing down on you.
Your weight, your skin tone, acne, stretch marks, bow legs, bunions, lack of hair growth, knock-knees, not in a relationship, the list is endless…
Just so you know dear, the world would never completely change its heart, that's why Alessia sang 'could' right there.
Now, its left for you to either wallow in self-pity, or rise above all condemnation and obstacles.
Some may even say your obstacles are not even valid enough for you to worry about… "There are people starving, People with Cancer, People who have had various terrible accidents which has had them 'hopeless'"
Don't listen to that!
If it is an issue to you, then it is as big as it gets
Now, what is the point of this post?
You may ask:
"What do I really need to know?"
"How can I change my circumstances"
You can't sweetheart, although, in modern times, if you're financially bountiful, a few things could be changed, but not everyone has the money for that.
Now you have to love yourself the way you are
I would very much like to believe that everything happens, and is there for a reason
Well science does explain stretch marks and acne, and we all can explain weight loss and weight gain.
But you have to learn to accept that the stretch mark is part of what life has to offer, as regards to the elasticity of your skin.
When you've reached the point of self-love, no outside degradation can bring you down.
On your own, you will bring out that scale, work out and eat healthy because you love yourself too much to let go.
On your own, you will rock that sleeveless top and that mini skirt that shows off your arms, nice legs and the stretch marks to go.
On your own, you will rock that Afro, use that Shea-butter and glow like the sun.
No one is perfect! Neither are you
But you can be the best you want to be regardless of your situation. Just learn to love yourself.
That's the beginning of your happiness
You may even start a trend.
Now don't just know this for yourself, tell the other person too… https://orekush.wordpress.com/2017/07/29/scars-to-your-beautiful/
